Since coming to Golden Gate Fields in January, Richiesinthehouse has solidified himself as arguably the top sprinter on the grounds. Coming off 2 no-condition Allowance wins this meet, he returned today at the same level to score by an impressive 4 lengths. He has continued to show his dominance on synthetic surfaces, as he is now 8 for 10 lifetime with 2 seconds. Jockey Frank Alvarado sent him to the lead from the outside post and never looked back. In the stretch, this son of Sidney’s Candy opened up on the field with ease and stopped the clock in 1:09.02 for 6f. Larry Rivelli has Richiesinthehouse going well, and I would imagine the goal this meet for the 5yo gelding is the 75k Lost in the Fog Stakes on Gold Rush weekend in April.
Since being put on the shelf after a cal-bred stake at Del Mar over the summer, Cozze Kid came back to win a 6f 40k Optional Claimer in her 3yo debut. The Jamey Thomas trainee rated off the lead and powered home well in the stretch to take a 2 1/2 length victory. The synthetic surface might be the difference maker for her as she is now 2 for 2 with a combined winning margin of 11 1/4 lengths. Empressive Cat stayed on strongly for 2nd. And then it was 3/4 of a length back to English Royality. Cozze Kid ran the 6f in 1:10.46.
Race 5 on the card was the feature, and it was a 5 1/2f first level Allowance race for 4yos and up. Mikes Tiznow shot straight to lead under Ricky Gonzalez and took the field of 12 all the way around. Today was his 2nd start off the layoff after having ran a close 2nd to Sir Vronski. This son of Slew’s Tiznow is continuing to improve for trainer Andy Mathis and will definitely move up once the turf course opens– 5f on the grass seems like his preferred trip. Pricey purchase Goren ran on well to get 2nd, and American Currency was able to hold on for 3rd.
